Malpractice insurance is an optional professional liability policy for healthcare professionals. It aims to protect the interests of healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives or pharmacists) in the event that patients bring legal actions against them as a result of claims of negligence on the part of the professional or treatment decisions that have caused unintentional harm.

Malpractice insurance covers both single cases of harm to patients and multiple cases that occur in succession. So, if a healthcare professional is accused of causing harm to the health or life of third parties, the insurance company will cover all damages caused, thus protecting the insured's property rights.

The basic damages covered are:

  • material damages
  • patient expenses;
  • forensic costs;
  • litigation costs incurred by the patient.
